Structure@1681 is a by appointment professional consultant and workshop studio offering custom crafted services for your framing, presentation, preservation and conservation needs. Simply call or E-Mail us to set up a time that is convenient for you. If you can not visit us during our regular business hours: Mon. - Fri. 10AM - 6PM then we will try to set a time that can work with your schedule and ours. We ask that you call or e-mail us in advance of your visit to verify that we will be in the studio as we may be out on an installation service call.

Structure@1681 is dedicated to the belief that the best quality product and service is achieved through a knowledgeable and realistic understanding of the materials, techniques and aesthetics that are combined to achieve your desired goal.

Your service needs may be as simple as the framing of a cherished photograph. When completed you will leave knowing that your photo will not discolour due to sun bleaching/burning or acid leaching, ensuring that your print will last a lifetime. A more in-depth and targeted service may require the reconstruction and repair of a vintage/antique print or poster. This could include bleaching of discoloured paper and linen backing to help preserve your art works intrinsic beauty and longevity as well as your items monetary worth.

DARRELL KOBZA is the man behind STRUCTURE@1681.
An honours graduate of the Ontario College of Art and Design with a speciality in sculpture, painting and printmaking, Mr. Kobza has extensive aesthetic and material expertise. With over 20 years of experience as a professional framer and restorer, along with doing art exhibit installations and specialized display stands for art galleries and corporate clients, STRUCTURE@1681's owner has a very strong and dedicated belief in quality work, realistic objectives with open and transparent dialogue about procedures, requirements and necessities.

STRUCTURE@1681's objective is to exceed its client's expectations rather then simply meet their requirements.
In the choice of materials and techniques, STRUCTURE@1681 will always use those which guarantee the best longevity and protection while also reflecting the latest ideas and thinking within the archival community.
STRUCTURE@1681 also believes in its responsibility to the environment and the world that is our home. Materials such as wood, aluminum, paper, glass; if we can re-use or recycle we will. Our paints and finishes are by and large water-based or wax-based applied by hand and our frame suppliers are all the best known and most reputable on the continent.
